Baron Black grew up in Martinique, listening to the reggae music that his mother had been listening, and the traditional drums of the island that his father was loving.
First of all he called himself DJ Toaster, developing his style by improvisation and after that he started writing. He then chose the name of Baron Black – « black » in reference to Aimé Césaire.
In 2011 Baron Black released an unexpected album: Tradisyon Mwen, using a very different tone – acoustic instruments and texts from a different point of view. This album has an almost serious atmosphere without ever being sad: Baron Black remains energetic, his songs are deep, bright and catchy …
